    Bursary 2009

Congratulations to Claire Kendrew-Jones from Lisburn  who was awarded  the £500 Bursary.

She will be travelling with ‘Mission Africa’ to Nigeria where she will be volunteering as a Pharmacist with the Holley Memorial Hospital for a period of 12 months.

Her tasks will include training the staff at the pharmacy, implementing more efficient working systems in the pharmacy, HIV / AIDS education and training in AIDS care and prevention.

Whilst there Claire will also be working with the local church. Claire will be coming to Rotary lunch on 24th July to receive her cheque and tell members a little about her trip.

In previous years most applicants were travelling to third world countries for a 2 or 3 month period.  The Interview Panel felt it was particularly commendable of Claire to commit a full year of her time to this project.

There were 5 applications for the Bursary this year and the award was decided after interviews

The other 4 applicants also had commendable projects planned and the panel decided to award £100 to each of them.
